first + second day!

aw, i am tired!!! haha

i thought about updating yesterday, but i figured i would wait until i had at least attended all my classes. :) as of 4 PM today, i know where my classes are and how my professors look like. well, i know what's expected of me in classes, too. i have to say, i have SO MUCH WORK TO DO!!!! hahaha i guess that's what it means to be a grad school student.

let's see... where do i begin?

chinese 101: my only class with undergrads!! i happily report that i look like one of them because this little freshman boy came up to me and tried to convince me that he knew me from somewhere. i was amused that this guy was so persistent, so i gave him a hard time. the conversation went something like this:

the boy: hey, i'm chris. don't i know you from somewhere?

me: no

the boy: no, i'm serious. i met you at a party or something.

me: i don't think so.

the boy: oh, maybe it's the dorm?

me: um, no.

the boy: are you sure?

me: yeah, you are an undergrad and i'm a grad student.

the boy: oh.

i know, i should have just told him about my grad student status when he asked his first question, but i mean, he was just so... full of it.

needless to say, he was the one who asked the teacher, "if i get a 91.5%, would you round that up to an A or down to an A-?" see, now you don't feel bad that i was mean, right?

last but not least, MICHIGAN LANGUAGE CLASS IS EEEEEEASSSSSSYYYY compared to Berkeley's.

values, ethics, and policy:

the course is interesting, but the professor talked the whole 1.5 hours giving an overview of the course that made it seem not very exciting...at all. i tried very hard to keep myself awake. for the remaining semester, it will be student-taught/presented class, so i look forward to that.

calculus:

this professor is HILARIOUS. he's going to make calculus seem FUN! haha i'm looking forward to it.

economics:

another fun class with a funny professor. it's surprising that i would actually enjoy core classes (calc and econ) professors more than my elective/fun classes! haha met some cool people in class.

elections & campaign:

taught by a guy who has ran many (successful and not so successful) state and federal campaigns. he's a good friend of karl rove, so we will just leave it for you to guess what side of the spectrum he's from. =P nonetheless, his statement was, there is no public policy without victory. he waved his imaginary magic wand and made us all campaign managers! =P i think i'll enjoy this class a lot, too.

Whew! these are my classes. here are two big realizations since the school began.

1) i really like clean, untouched chalkboards. i daydream about being the first one to write on them, making my mark with the white chalk. i really am thinking about sneaking into the building early in the morning and writing on all the chalkboards. i will have to restrain myself.

2) i like being in classes. it's so mind stimulating. i love actively thinking and formulating ideas and words in my head to express myself in the class. ah, i love it.
